Boundaries are important. They can be good and bring safety and peace or they can be oppressive and exclude or even incarcerate people.
Joe Hardy (www.joehardy.co.uk) is one of our ambassadors here at Kids Alive International International and his debut album “Without Borders” speaks of the freedom he wants people to know in Christ – for us to have no borders in our relationship with God or in our capacity to receive and give his love and hope; nothing to block that divine channel of grace between us and God; for freedom that is not conditional but eternal, like the oceans going on and on and on; for hope that is not just for a future destination but a present reality. We, too, long for that freedom for the children we are trying to help.
But for us at HFKI and Kids Alive, borders also have another meaning. Perimeter fences and walls around our sites provide an essential element of safety for the vulnerable children within them. Protection from gangs, alcohol induced violence and even a third party murder (as happened at one of our Zambia sites earlier this year) is vital in providing a sense of identity and a safe space where these children can live and play and grow without fear.
There are still some of our sites “Without Borders” especially in Zambia and we are launching a new appeal to try and get all our sites secure during 2017. Would you consider joining with us to pray for this positive outcome and perhaps sending a small donation to this specific cause?
