How you're preventing thousands of traumatised children being labelled as 'naughty'.

We are thrilled to announce that our teams in Kenya and Haiti have recently provided trauma awareness training to almost 100 teachers across 15 partner schools, in some of the toughest teaching environments on the planet.

One of the main reasons so many children drop out of school in the slums of Nairobi or the turmoil of Haiti, is that they get branded as naughty and a bad kid.

But when they live in 'houses' like this and never know where their next meal is going to come from, it is very hard for them to engage the 'rational' part of their brain when they're at school.

“Hunger, abuse, or abandonment that occurred months or years ago can still trigger terror, which in turn leads to out-of-control behaviour.”

Dr. Karin Purvis, Child Trauma Expert

Your support is helping us change the way teachers perceive 'difficult' students who come from incredibly challenging environments. By understanding that the root cause of their 'bad behaviour' is often trauma rather than naughtiness, teachers can approach these students in a new and more compassionate way.

Thank you for supporting us in caring for some of the world's most vulnerable children. Thousands of traumatised children are benefiting, and thousands more will benefit in future years.
