Our children from Casa Monte Plata in Dominican Republic had a great time at the Semana Santa Camp! Activities included swimming in the river, playing games, eating local foods, watching a cow milking, and having fun conversations. The highlight – a quinceañera, or 15th birthday celebration of a young lady!
Many of the children we serve have rarely been beyond the confines of their local community. Taking them on a camp trip like this not only gives them a great time, but also helps develop their life skills.
Having fun is so important to any child’s development. Having fun with our staff and other adults also helps establish levels of trust, especially with adults. Given the background of many of the kids we serve, this is particularly valuable.
