Zambia, officially the Republic of Zambia, is a land-locked country in south-central Africa and has a population of 16.5 million. Lusaka is the capital city and largest city, and is home to over four million people. The climate is tropical and geography consists of high plateaus and mountains dissected by river valleys. With 14 ecosystems and more than 7,000 different animal species, Zambia boasts impressive biodiversity.
Kids Alive is ministering to over 700 at-risk children in Lusaka and in Mongu in western Zambia. Two residential villages, one school, and our care centre programme strive to provide holistic care, recognizing the distinct needs of boys and girls. Our homes provide a safe place to sleep, nutritious meals, health care, and daily Gospel teaching. Our schools provide quality education, Bible studies, and at least one meal a day to over 600 children. For many children this is the only meal they’ll eat each day.
