On the starting blocks!

Originally from Esslingen, Germany, Samuel Ziegler grew up as a Missionary Kid, living with his family in various countries. Six of those formative years were in Kenya and Sam has always desired to return there, where he felt so at home. In October 2012, while studying youth ministry at University, Sam joined a Kids Alive International International service team to Kids Alive Kenya. Shortly, he will be serving for a one year initial term with the Kids Alive Kenya team in Karundas.

Fuelled by the love of God, Sam has worked in youth ministry for six years. His passion is to disciple young people and nurture growth in their faith. While having a calling that focuses on young people, Sam nevertheless agrees with sentiments from one CS Lewis: “A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest.”

The Karundas team is excited to have Sam join them soon, while Sam is grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Kenya as his parents did. A Bible verse that is significant to Sam reflects the world-wide mission of our Redeemer God.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”  (Luke 4:18-19)
