We were very privileged to join our Kids Alive Kenya team at a conference they arranged in May 2022 for a number of Christian ministries which also serve vulnerable children throughout Africa, specifically to share experiences and expertise in providing trauma care. It was so encouraging to see ministries from Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Uganda, Liberia and Rwanda all come together to hear about caring effectively for traumatised children.
We were joined by representatives from the Karyn Purvis Foundation, the organisation which established and shaped the ‘TBRI’ trauma care model that we follow (Trauma Based Relational Intervention). It was so helpful to hear how some of the representatives had been applying the model and picking up hints and tips on what has worked especially well.
We are praying that hundreds if not thousands of vulnerable traumatised children will now benefit from such a rich sharing of information and expertise.
Interestingly, our friends at a recent ‘Zambia Without Orphans’ conference (a consortium of about 20 like-minded ministries in Zambia which we are part of), all expressed a desire to find out more about trauma care.
Thank you again to everyone who supports us in whatever way they can, without which conferences like this simply can not happen. And we hope you are as encouraged as we are when we see the impact of your support rippling way beyond Kids Alive’s many projects to other ministries and projects.
