Patricia* has never known her mother, who died just a few months after giving birth. She lives in Cap Haitien with her father, stepmother, and brother, and when she was in year 3 she enrolled in the Haiti Kids Alive School. Because her parents are unemployed, the economic situation at home is bleak. In Haiti, most education is private and very expensive, leading to the low rates of primary school enrolment.
But Kids Alive is the reason Patricia was able to receive a good education, eat three times during the school day, and even have food to take home to her family for the weekend. This girl loves school! Her grades are good and she is now one of two community kids in our programme to reach year 12 (the UK equivalent of A levels).
Our ministry was able to send her to the Dominican Republic to have a much-needed surgery, replacing her right eye with a prosthetic eye. That experience caused her to begin dreaming of becoming a doctor one day, and we are excited to see what her future will hold.
Patricia is always sharing with others that Kids Alive is the reason she has succeeded so far and how much she loves our ministry. We feel privileged to be part of her story of how God rescues and restores!
