2013 brings us lots of exciting fundraising projects and opportunities. One of these is we have been selected as the ‘Charity of the Year’ for Princes Street United Reformed Church, in Yeovil, England. We are very excited to be partnering with this church as they help us to change the lives of orphans and vulnerable children around the world.
Every year, Princes Street URC chooses a charity to focus their fundraising efforts on during the year. They alternate between supporting local charities and those with an international ministry. This year we were invited to be their focus charity. One church member shared “Because we are not a big church, spending a year supporting one charity means we can have a greater impact and allows more people to get involved.”
It looks like the church has already thought of some creative fundraising ideas – “For our ‘Charity of the Year’ we hold a few events such as a Games Evening, Ploughman’s Supper and Quiz, and maybe a coffee morning or tea-party at a member’s home. We also have pots (the containers for old-fashioned films!), which will hold £5 of 20p pieces, suitably labelled, which members use for collections.” (Princes Street URC, Treasurer).
We are very thankful for the support and encouragement of one of our local churches and we look forward to the coming year.
